Structural Rehabilitation & Upgrading
Harbord Collegiate Institute – Phase 4
Client: Toronto District School Board
Where: 79 Jackman Avenue, Toronto, ON M4K 2X5
What We Did: Major structural rehabilitation, including brick and stone replacement, as well as waterproofing repair to a building designated under the Ontario Heritage Act. To accomplish this our crew removed the stone lintle, parged the back-up wall, installed galvanized steel angle and waterproofed with Blueskin System. The existing stone and bricks were replaced onto the walls to restore the key features and maintain the unique 128-year-old architecture.
Challenges: Working with tight deadlines required high efficiency and little room for error. There were many unforeseen changes to site conditions and changing construction details required a large work force and high accuracy. Maintaining a good working relationship with the client allowed for successful completion of the project.
