The safety committee meets to discuss current safety practices and incidents which may arise. Everyone is encouraged to participate in this process by either talking to any of the above personnel or to submit your concerns directly to George Kourous (Ext. 111) or by E-mail. All immediate concerns about safety problems on job sites should be brought to the attention of your supervisor and then George Kourous or the office without delay.
It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that you and your fellow
workers are protected from hazards at all times. Remember to use extra caution
when working around large equipment. Many incidents involve strains from over-exertion while lifting. Please ask for help when lifting or moving heavy objects and equipment. Always remember to lift with your legs and not with your back.
Many of our customers are establishing new site safety requirements which require our crews to wear additional safety gear including vests and glasses. Each site has its own set of rules and these are mandatory. Strict enforcement of these rules are common and building owners are removing contractors from their bidders list for failure of its workers to comply with site safety requirements. Please make sure that you comply with all orders by site safety personnel politely and immediately. These site rules are established for your own protection and are not negotiable.
Job Safety Operating Procedures are available from all supervisors which indicate some of the hazards of working at specific job tasks. Make sure that you read these instructions prior to commencing a job site task (especially when unfamiliar with the procedure).
Please tag/mark any equipment which is not working properly. Please ensure that you tag all equipment that requires repair to ensure that it is not sent out to another site or used by another worker. Communication of a hazard starts with you !
Every Duron employee and subcontractor is encouraged and expected to adhere to the spirit and intent of this policy.
